IN OUR MIDST

Historically, Cantonese Opera scripts and songs have been composed by playwrights and songwriters from Hong Kong or Guangzhou. However, many may not know that Singapore also has seen the emergence of two notable script and songwriters, that is the late Mr. Leslie Wong and Mr. Norman Cheung.

In this coming program “A Gem in Our Midst: Works of Playwright Norman Cheung”, we aim to introduce Mr. Norman Cheung to Singaporeans.  He is well-known in Hong Kong and Guangzhou and his works have been performed by many popular artists there, and many of his songs were also recorded on DVD and enjoy popularity in Hong Kong, Europe, America, and Singapore.

So, come and enjoy a night of beautiful sight and sound of Cantonese Opera songs and excerpts written by the renowned and talented Singaporean playwright and songwriter Norman Cheung.

Performing for us we have seasoned Singaporean artists Gary Gong, Ian Kwok, Marconi Mak, Gary Ong, Fung Chi Shing, Chan Mei Yin, Jeslin Cheong, Janny Leung, May Choong, Lo Siu Ling and Chin Tin Fong.

历来粤剧的编剧和撰曲家都是来自香港或广州，相信好多人不知道新加坡也出了两位有才华的编剧和撰曲家，黄士英（已故）和张泽明。张泽明享譽香港和广州，他的作品也被多位著名演员和歌唱家上演过。很多新加坡朋友们可能不太认识这位杰出的编剧和撰曲家，所以这次敦煌剧坊将以《张泽明戏曲作品展演》的节目来向国人介绍他。同时我们也选择了他几部佳作让大家欣赏。

参与这晚的演出有新加坡資深的粤剧演员，龚耀祥，郭广麟，麦启明，王俊明，冯志成，陈美燕，张淑莲，梁琇芳，钟丽容，卢少玲和陈天凤。
