Gerard Salonga helms the MPO in an exhilarating evening of piano extravaganza featuring two talented Malaysia-born pianists Ng Chong Lim and Foo Mei Yi enthral the audience with Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos, a jazzy rhythmic composition that was uniquely inspired by the Balinese gamelan. Rachmaninoff’s The Rock, inspired by Anton Chekhov’s short story “Along The Way”, and Brahms’ Symphony No. 1, with melodies reminiscent of Beethoven’s Ninth, complete a programme of poetic melodies and classical masterpieces.
