Multitalented Malaysian artist Tengku Irfan conducts the MPO in a program of musical innovation, including his Beethoven-inspired work, “Flamme, Funken, Freude”. Schumann’s 4th Symphony is a dramatic, seamless work which pushes the boundaries of Romantic symphonic form, while Bartók’s Dance Suite expresses the composer’s love of Hungarian music through his original folk-style melodies. Lemminkäinen’s Return by Sibelius transports us to the mythical world while reflecting the symbolist currents of the Art Nouveau era
