The TFO Masterworks Series presents an evening of powerful orchestral music that bridges the turn of the 20th century with the present day. The programme features the world premiere of Rimba II by Ng Chong Lim, alongside two of the most enduring works in the concert repertoire — Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2, performed by the composer-soloist himself, and Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2, celebrated for its sweeping themes and triumphant conclusion.
Led by Kevin Field, this concert also marks a significant milestone: the debut of the Tutan Festival Orchestra at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS, and Field’s return to the venue where he previously served as conductor of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. Together, these works offer a journey through lush Romantic expression, bold national voices, and contemporary creation — a programme crafted for listeners who value depth, emotion, and the thrill of live orchestral performance.
